Tappahannock Methodist
We seek to be the disciples of Christ, welcoming all as we nurture and support one another through service and outreach.
United Methodist Women's CircleMISSION STATEMENT:

United Methodist Women's Circle is a community of women whose purpose is:
• To know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ
• To develop a creative supportive fellowship and
• To expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
Our UMW is organized for mission and serves the local church, the community, and the world through our mission education, advocacy, and direct service through the Board of Global Ministries. Regardless of agenda , our pastor is automatically a member of the UMW, per District and Conference guidelines, and is also a member of our executive committee. Historically, the United Methodist Women (UMW) organization is the successor of missionary societies which were formed over 134 years ago and of the Ladies Aid societies. More recent predecessor organizations include Women’s Society of Christian Service (WSCS) and Wesleyan Service Guild (WSG) in the Methodist Church and Women’s Society of World Service (WSWS) in the Evangelical United Brethren Church.

Funds of United Methodist Women are their own and are disbursed through their channels — not through the local church treasurer. Our UMW determines its budget and decides how much to expend in the local unit and how much to pledge through the district for mission outreach beyond the local community. Our UMW receives funds from pledges determined by each individual member and from fund-raising activities sponsored by the group as necessary.

Because of very low membership we are currently meeting as a “Cirle of Women” to provide spiritual development of our members, mission education, and support. We are focusing our help on local projects and , as chosen, district and conference projects. Our group has utilized the Tappahannock Fall Festival, bake sales and/or luncheons to raise funds to support our mission efforts.
